Portable, affordable and versatile, LEDs are an often underappreciated method of lighting an event venue. Their unique nature allows them to be used in creative ways that can either solve lighting problems or completely change the ambiance of the occasion, which is a significant advantage when you consider the fact that lightning has been shown to have a powerful impact on emotions and memory.
1. They Grab Attention
Lighting can be a powerful tool for getting attention. There’s a reason neon signs are still popular and that Times Square is the world’s second most visited tourist attraction, after the even brighter Las Vegas strip. People simply enjoy looking at light displays, and this is something you can use to your advantage.
Let’s say you have a centrepiece that you want people to really notice, well you can wrap LEDs around it, place them beneath it, or use any other method you think would work for your unique scenario. This will catch people’s eye and bring their attention towards whatever you would like them to look at. Likewise, you may have an area of the venue that you want people to gravitate towards, maybe seating, shops and stalls or a stage for the event’s entertainment. Conversely, there might be a particular locations within your venue that you would prefer people stayed away from, such as preparation areas. using lighting to draw people’s attention to other areas of the room is an excellent way to do this.
2. They Create an Atmosphere
Depending on the type of event you are holding, you might find that you have an entirely unique set of lighting requirements. A Christmas ball, for example, requires a different approach to a children’s disco. Flashing, colourful LEDs are perfect for a disco, and can build into a party atmosphere, whereas a Christmas ball requires something more elegant, plenty of whites and blues to mimic snow and bring that festive feeling. Thanks to the sheer volume of LED products available, you shouldn’t have a problem finding what you need, and once you have, you’ll be able to add an extra layer of atmosphere through decoration, further improving the experience of the event.
3. They Can Light the Way
Occasionally your venue won’t be directly adjacent to the area from which your guests will arrive. Somewhere where this is likely to happen, for example, is an event hosted at a large stately home with a carpark in a separate part of the grounds. If this is the case, you’ll have to ensure your guests don’t get lost and wander around aimlessly looking for your venue. The use of LED lights here allows you to elegantly guide your attendees to where you need them to be. You could use strip lights either to create a walkway, you could use solar powered and portable lights as a ‘follow the breadcrumbs’ method or you could get even more creative and give it your own personal flourish. No matter what you decide to do, it removes the often relied upon approach leaving out flimsy and tacky handwritten signs.
4. They Provide the Perfect Amount of Light
In the event of inadequate lighting at your venue, LEDs can provide a simple yet effective solution. An example of this would be a dark corner of the room that standard lighting fixtures won’t reach, or perhaps even an area that is lit too brightly and needs a more subtle and gentle approach. In the event of a wedding, where you want a relaxed and joyous tone of lighting, rather than some bright and garish fixtures, LEDs can be used to the perfect balance. Given the versatility and options available for LED lighting, it is likely you’ll be able to find the perfect type of light to solve your issue.
